Constitution

i) Title

The Society shall be called WiredSoc and shall be affiliated to the Students Association of the University of St Andrews.

ii) Aims

The aims of the Society are:
To organise social and recreational events for its members
To organise and publicise lectures, seminars and events of a computer-related nature
To offer discount to its members on the purchase of computer hardware
To operate and maintain a number of computers for the provision of services to its members
To organise workshops of interest to those wishing to develop their computing skills
To encourage, though the process of engagement, the use of a variety of operating systems
To give limited technical support to the Members

iii) Membership

Ordinary Membership shall be open to all matriculated students of the University of St Andrews. All other persons shall be eligible for Associate Membership.
Honorary Officers and Honorary Members may be elected by the Committee. These members must have some standing in relation to the Society.
Honorary Life Membership shall be given to founding members of the Society, to out-going Presidents and to those whom the Committee sees fit.
Societies may affiliate to WiredSoc for use of the services. Any affiliated society will be subject to the terms and conditions in the Operational Guidelines. Affiliated societies are not members of the Society, and therefore are not entitled to vote.
The Student Association’s Director of Student Development and Activities and the Student Services Committee Societies Offcer, Member for Societies Elections and Member for Societies Grants shall be deemed Honorary Members.
The annual subscription shall be subject to review by the Committee and must consequently be approved by the AGM.

iv) Officebearers

There shall be the following Executive officebearers:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
There shall be the following Ordinary officebearers:
Chief System Administrator
Assistant System Administrator(s)
Trainee System Administrator
Web Coordinator
Purchasing Officer
Events Coordinator
Communications Officer
Gaming Coordinator
First Year Representative
The Committee may co-opt additional committee members as it sees fit.

v) Committee

The affairs of the Society shall be conducted by a committee of at least five (5) members as outlined above.
Committee meetings shall usually take place once a week during term time.
The members of the Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Society.

vi) Regulations

The Society shall follow the regulations laid down by the Students’ Association Societies Committee in the most recent edition of the Societies Handbook and in the Standing Orders for all affliated societies.

vii) Finance

The finances of the Society shall be dealt according to the regulations laid down by the Societies Committee.
The Treasurer is personally responsible for maintaining the Society’s accounts, including balancing and reconciling bank statements and submitting the accounts to the Students’ Association Cash Offce for auditing by the end of each Candlemas semester. The Treasurer must present a financial report at each Committee meeting.
Two (2) signatories from the Students’ Association shall appear on the Society’s bank mandate.
In the event of a deficit this shall be paid off by an equal subscription from all members.
viii) Quoracy

A meeting shall be deemed aquorate unless it meets the specifications laid down in the Operational Guidelines .

ix) Constitution

A copy of this Constitution and its appendices are available on the Society’s web site.
The Constitution, Operational Guidelines, the Societies Handbook and the Standing Orders for societies shall be displayed at General Meetings of the Society.
Any proposed alterations to the Constitution must be ratified by the Committee and require a two-thirds majority of the members present at a General Meeting. The alterations must then be ratified by the Societies Committee.

x) Operational Guidelines

The Society shall operate according to the Operational Guidelines . These may be amended upon a majority vote at a quorate Committee Meeting. The Societies Committee will be informed of any changes made to the Operational Guidelines .
